PAUL JABOULET AINE
2002 Crozes Hermitage "Les Jalets"
2002 Crozes Hermitage "Les Jalets"

This Crozes Hermitage is a soft, flavorful red wine with a rich taste of black currants.  It is made entirely from Syrah grapes grown alongside the Rhone River in sandy soil mixed with large, smooth stones named "jalets" in old French.  Paul Jaboulet is a specialist in Syrah-based wines from the Rhone Valley, and "Les Jalets" is one of their very best values.

WINE TYPE:             Dry Red

GRAPE TYPE:       100% Syrah

COUNTRY:                  France

REGION:                    Rhone

VINIFACATION:

"Les Jalets", refers to the name of the spot where Jaboulet's new premisis and cellars are situated in the commune of La Roche de Glun.  A lively wine, supple, lighter than Domaine de Thalabert and Domaine Raymond Roure.  Made from grapes bought and vinified by Jaboulet, or from wines bought regulary from several growers which ensures continuity of quality and style.

TASTING NOTE:

This is a serious wine with serious Syrah structure which the smoky, herb-singed, berry fruit fills out.  Pair this one with steaks, even barbeque.

FOOD MATCH:

BBQ, beef, grilled meats, grilled vegetables, lamb, pizza, red meat, roasts, turkey.

750ml     13.0% alc./vol.
